What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

Yes it is. I came to Harbourfront for the day.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

I love its open-endedness–in the simplicity there is space for it to be anything to you at any time. You can guess at the artist’s story or invent ever changing ones.

I have never been here so I came to learn about the Inuit, and their culture. Also, it’s our monthly anniversary and we always like to do something special for it!

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

It is incredibly detailed, complex and beautiful.

Yes it is. We were just wandering around the Harbourfront.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

It is very intricate and complex. It is impressive and interesting that it’s made out of whalebone.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

I like the commical expression and the use of different materials that are incorporated in a single piece.

Boston

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

Yes. I’m visiting town and did my own internet art research. I’m an artist.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

I like the personality of the figures. It seems childlike, and the style of sculpture is simplistic, and the natural patina conveys the message intuitively. You don’t need mental background to understand it. I like that it’s open to interpretation (allows imagination – openness of mind).

It’s whimsical and feminine. But it has a great sense of inner strength about it. It’s just very beautiful.
