Originally from Japan, now living in Toronto.

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

Just walked by. Yes, my first visit.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

It touched me in a very primitive and simple way. It brought me back to a very deep place, dark but somewhat full of life.

As a designer, I really appreciate all of the handiwork and creativity that goes into creating a piece like this.

Ryan: Always wanted to visit the museum and learn about Inuit culture.

Both: Very beautiful piece. Spirits in flames, very inspiring.

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

Its unique collection of Inuit artists.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

A very complex, very imaginative description of anticipation of a war, which is depicted by drum beats, a pensive, thoughtful face, and many eyes of spies in the form of beads. An exotic and masterful creation of the values of the Inuit people.

Not really – we have been to the gift shop before and always said we should come back.

We like the strong lines and the protective feelings it evokes.

I am attracted to all kinds of art.  I also really like art by Native Americans.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

It’s my favourite because it is really different and original. I love its smile with crooked teeth and its funny, mischevious grin.

I love the art and culture of the aboriginal peoples.

I really liked the “Caribou Shaman” because he looks both welcoming, whimsical and spirit-imploring.

Where are you from?

Winnipeg, MB

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

Yes it is my first visit. I have an interest in Inuit and their art after living in Kangiqtugaapik (Clyde River).

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

It brings back wonderful memories of living in Clyde River and visiting Panniqtuuq (Pangnirtung). It is a very charming print, showing a beautiful community.

No. I was brought here by the complimentary admission. It is also our monthly anniversary and my boyfriend has an interest in native culture.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

I like the large size and the detailed carving of the animals.
