A school group with their favourite piece in the museum

Liceo Marinelli School Group, MIA visitors, with “Dancing Bear” (1998) by Pauta Saila (1916-2009), Kinngait (Cape Dorset), stone, ivory, Private Collection

Where are you from?

Udine, Italy.

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

We’re part of the UTS Exchange program at the University of Toronto. We were visiting this area and wanted to stop into the museum.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

The whole group really liked the Dancing Bears by Pauta Saila. They are original, express spirituality and movement. Also, we liked the serpentine with the white veins – looks eye catching and interesting!
