Playing Favourites: Shahaddah and Laurette J., August 6, 2012

7 Aug

Shahaddah and Laurette J., MIA visitors, with “Dancing Bears” (c. 1970s) by Pauta Saila (1916-2009), Kinnagait (Cape Dorset), stone, ivory, Private Collection

Where are you from?

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

We were curious in learning about Inuit culture.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

Dancing Bears are cool and smart and they dance to pass on the spirit. It’s enlightening and educational to learn about these meanings.
