MIA Visitor Kathy with "Creation Story" (2007) by Manasie Akpaliapik (1955-) from Ikpiarjuk (Arctic Bay), whalebone, stone, ivory, Private Collection

Where are you from?

Toronto

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

I was just passing by and I saw this incredible museum. It should be considered a national treasure.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

Everywhere you look on this whalebone carving presents a different vision-people, fish, bear claws, eagles. It has depth. It has spirit. It takes you inside of yourself and gives you a vision of this incredible culture.
