24 Jul

Playing Favourites is a running series featuring MIA visitors, staff and volunteers with their favorite objects in our collection.  Playing Favourites is open to every person at MIA, so please let us know if you’d like to participate the next time you visit.

MIA visitor Sage with “Mask” (2008) by Dolfus Cadieux (1956 – ), Yellowknife, NWT, Stone, Private Collection on Loan to MIA

Where are you from?

Toronto

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

The weather, meeting friends and introducing this museum to a friend. This isn’t my first visit. One day, I would like to purchase a piece of this beautiful art.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

I love the tranquility of the person’s face. The repetitious pattens and texture that flows from the carving of the face. I also like the organic shape of the entire sculpture as well.
