Mary Grace E., MIA Visitor next to “Spirit World of the Inuit” by Manasie Akpaliapik(1955 – ) from Ikpiarjuk, Fossilized whalebone, ivory, inlay, Private Collection on Loan to MIA

Where are you from?

Lakeville, CT.

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

Yes this is my first visit.  A love of museums and especially with a unique focus.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

The entire exhibit is amazing – from the smallest piece to the largest – and the one that interested me the most is Spirit World of the Inuit, because it is made from the head of the bow whale and incorporates so many varied forms.
